Brief History
 

Post-Korean War (1950-1953), a major wave of Korean immigrants came to the United States with many refugees and military dependents resettled in the U.S. after the war ended.

During this time, many Korean immigrants faced many educational challenges as they were not highly educated and had to restart their education after the war, not to mention, learn to properly speak and write in the English language. Therefore, families often sought to prioritize their children's education, encouraging high academic achievement as a means of social mobility.

By the 1980s and 1990s, the Korean American community had begun to stabilize and grow economically, and there was an increasing focus on education as a key means of upward mobility. As a result, by the 2000s, Korean Americans continued to thrive in America, standing as one of the "model minority" related to educational and social success in America.
